UK immigration rules have changed!
Are you still hoping to fill vacancies in English, Humanities & Business?
Changes to Immigration Rules means recruiting non-shortage subject teachers from overseas is now possible
Over the last eight months demand for Tier 2 Restricted Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) has increased significantly. The monthly allocation of restricted certificates has been reached every month since November 2017. This meant a large number of applications were refused.
Schools/academies found that only applications for shortage occupations (teachers of maths, science, computer science and mandarin) were granted. Applications for non-shortage subjects lost out in the points system because their salaries could not compete with many other occupations.
Last month, Home Secretary Sajid Javid acknowledged this problem. He will remove applications for nurses and doctors from the monthly allocation and process them separately. Applications for nurses and doctors took up around 40% of all Tier 2 applications. This change frees up a significant number of restricted certificates for other sectors, including education.
This change will take effect from 6th July 2018.

Due to the pressures on the monthly restricted CoS cap, we have been unable to register a large number of overseas candidates. These are teachers of non-shortage subjects who have applied to us and want to teach in the UK. However, in light of this change we are now able to offer these candidates as suitable for non-shortage subject roles.
